Why therapy?

When it feels as if you need a change in yourself, as a couple, or in your family relationship, therapy is a good way to begin making changes. Therapy is the best investment you can make in yourself and your future. It offers the chance to change old patterns that aren't working, develop better commuications and explore any number of things that may be holding you back. Going to see a therapist is a sign of personal strength and a recognition of the importance you give to yourself and those close to you.

What is therapy like?

Your session will be a therapeutic conversation that focuses on what you feel is important in a safe and non-judgemental environment.  Together we will decide on specific goals and and design an approach that will work best for you.

How long will therapy last?

It is understandable that you want positive change to happen as quickly as possible. The goal is to do just that, while recognizing that each situation is unique. The length of time depends on the issues you bring to therapy and your goals for change.

Why call a therapist at all?

Deciding to contact a therapist is a big decision and finding the therapist that is right for you is a daunting task for anybody.  Feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail and  will be happy to answer any questions that you might have to better help you to make that decision.

Will I be doing Art Therapy or Sandplay Therapy?

That decision is entirely up to you. The processes will be explained and made availabe to you should you want to make that a part of the therapy process, but it is not mandatory in order to do therapy together.

What are your qualifications?

I have a Post-Master's degree in Marital and Family Therapy, a Master's degree in Art Therapy, and I have training in Group Therapy, Transcultural Psychiatry Issues, Sandplay Therapy.  I have also worked as a clinician in the psychiatric units of several of Montreal's major hospitals.

What are your fees?

I charge $100 for a 50 minute session.

Can I claim sessions against my private insurance?

Many insurance policies cover my services.  I am a Clinical Member of the Order of Social Workers as a Marital and Family Therapist, The Association of Art Therapists of Quebec, and The Art Therapy Credentials Board.  I am also a member of The Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Quebec.
